Urban design framework for a new town centre

UrbanFold delivered an Urban Design Framework for the Aintree Town Centre in Melbourne’s West. A collaborative design charrette process brought together Council developers landowners and Melbourne Water to collectively envision a major new town centre. Without the constraints of an existing built environment the framework balances long-term aspirations with practical deliverable early-stage development.

The framework guides retail commercial and mixed-use development while catalysing adjacent investment in areas like Woodlea. Streets public spaces and community infrastructure are designed to create a connected walkable and socially vibrant precinct. Early-stage planning ensures each development phase supports the overall vision for a thriving cohesive centre.

The Aintree UDF demonstrates how strategic planning and urban design can provide the blueprint for a new town centre. It provides a roadmap for vibrant inclusive and economically resilient communities.
