Regenerative masterplan

UrbanFold led a regenerative masterplan for a 36-hectare site in inner Canberra integrating a heritage homestead village centre and new community precinct. Working with a multidisciplinary team we prioritised Designing for Country and regenerative development principles throughout the process.

Our approach embeds new buildings and infrastructure within the existing vegetation and topography restoring hydrology and habitat while ensuring ecological sustainability. The Plan incorporates a range of housing typologies to support a diverse community in a setting that values landscape heritage and ecological integrity. Streets open spaces and community facilities are designed to be non-standard and encourage social interaction and connectivity.

By prioritising an ecological-first approach the Gungahlin Masterplan delivers a community that harmonises with the natural environment while providing functional liveable neighbourhoods.
