Community-focused recreational design on a unique site

UrbanFold together with Williams Ross Architects developed a Masterplan for Green Hill in Wallan through extensive community consultation. The Plan brings together aquatic facilities indoor and outdoor sports courts gymnastics sports ovals open spaces and walking tracks creating a precinct that caters to residents of all ages and abilities.

The site’s distinctive volcanic cone provides a strong visual identity and a unique landmark for the community and became driving factor for site design and the creation of a highly place-based plan. Central to the design was responding to the site’s ecology and drainage patterns and the restoration of habitat. The project team also engaged with Wurundjeri to embed Designing with Country principles into the Masterplan. A business case is underway to support Council bids for funding to deliver the planned facilities infrastructure and revegetation.
