Place-based structure planning

UrbanFold led the urban design for the Caulfield Structure Plan. The precinct home to Caulfield Racecourse Monash University’s Caulfield Campus and major redevelopment areas is centred around Caulfield Station. Working in an area with so many significant landmarks and destinations presented a unique opportunity to rethink connectivity accessibility and urban form in this busy urban centre.

The plan focused on new open spaces appropriate land uses building heights and street reconfiguration to create a more walkable and liveable precinct. We considered both macro-scale connectivity and the human-scale experience of streets parks and public spaces. By analysing barriers public transport integration and pedestrian movement the Structure Plan establishes a cohesive urban environment that balances density heritage and amenity.

This project demonstrates how careful urban design can activate a precinct making it functional attractive and accessible for residents students and visitors.
