Gateway development on a coastal peninsula

UrbanFold is leading the urban design and strategic planning for a parcel of land in Merimbula on the New South Wales south coast. Despite its relatively small size the site represents a highly significant design opportunity as the first development encountered when entering the town giving it the potential to become a visually and functionally striking gateway.

We are approaching the project with sensitivity to the protected coastal views surrounding landscapes and the challenges posed by proximity to the airport. Housing streetscapes and public spaces are designed to reflect the town’s identity while ensuring functional connectivity and sustainability. Materials scale and building orientation are carefully considered to enhance amenity and visual cohesion.

The project demonstrates how careful planning can balance housing delivery environmental stewardship and the creation of a strong sense of place.
